I would recommend this to anyone who can afford it and to those that
can’t – look for special offers. It’s a fabulous hotel in a great part
of town.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody staying in Vancouver.
Great spa, AMAZING food at the Market Restaurant. The rooms were huge
and spacious - free internet, huge plasma tv's, dvd, electric blinds so
you don't even have to get up to open the blinds, the bathrooms even had
a tv embedded into the mirror. sweet. also loved the fact that they
check you in, in the privacy of your own room. Best place to stay in
Vancouver if you want to see celebrities. I saw 3 and I was only there
for 2 nights!

We spent three nights at the Shangri La at the end of August. It's
pricey, but if you can swing it, I'd say go for it. We were shown two
rooms -- one a spacious typical room and the other a suite with a
balcony. Even though the cost of the room was high, we splurged on the
balcony room. Every morning and evening we would have our coffee or wine
outside with the most incredible city view. Of course the weather was
pleasant and the balcony would not be such a big deal if it was rainy or
cold. The room itself was perfect -- great comforter and bed, free
wireless internet, incredible bathroom in marble with double sinks and
amazing walk in shower. The room was spotless and very quiet in spite of
it's mid-city location. The check-in area on the lower level was a bit
confusing but we didn't find it to be a real problem. My husband used
the gym and said it was one of the best equipped hotel gyms that he has
seen. Unfortunately, I didn't allow any time for any spa
treatments--that can wait for next time. As a promotion, we had a $200
food and wine credit which we used towards dinner at Market -- loved it.
I've stayed at other hotels in Vancouver and this one outdoes the rest.
Great location too....next to Urban Fare--a Bristol Farms type store
with great salad bar, coffee bar, fresh fruit, groceries and prepared
foods...great place to hop into for a quick snack or meal. Don't miss
the Shangri-La...Forgot to mention the 5th floor swimming pool and
amazing unobtrusive service. Elegant and truly a world class hotel.

I really enjoyed my 4 night stay here. I got upgraded on arrival and
that set the tone for my stay, it was a truly luxurious experience. The
room was a large corner room on the 11th floor with a giant (at least to
this European) king sized bed. It had a large bathroom with heated
floor, in mirror TV and all the high quality toiletries one would expect
to find, which came from L’Occitane. The friendly staff were
knowledgeable and extremely helpful, making recommendations and
reservations for local restaurants. And the spa was fantastic; We got
over 2 hours of pampering with the Himalayan hot stone massage in
facilities my partner assures me are the very best she’s ever
experienced. Book it when you arrive or before as it was very popular.
Contrary to some other reviewers I liked having the check in the
basement as it kept the lobby free of weary travellers, there luggage
and related clutter, and for those getting in late from the local bars
and clubs there is a bell on the front door if your key does not work.
I most enjoyed the spa and free wifi is always a bonus. The most
annoying thing was the price of breakfast, $20 for a continental is a
bit steep for my liking although I accept that this is fast becoming
standard practice everywhere and that the cost is competitive, at least
with European hotels, still it’s a real pet peeve. The eggs Benedict was
very good though. Overall this place is first rate and up there with
some of the best in the world!

If you appreciate a fine attention to detail in every aspect then stay
here. The property is new and is very luxurious but it is the staff that
set this place high above all others. Rooms are very spacious and have
everything you would imagine. Stayed at the Four Seasons the next night
and it felt almost 4 stars!

Zenlike calm in the city. Despite the lobby's soaring chandeliers and
floor-to-ceiling windows, it maintains a low-key intimacy. There's no
waiting in line at reception; a "hospitality ambassador" whisks you
upstairs for in-room check-in. With a staff-to-guest ratio of about
2-to-1, you rarely even have to lift a finger to press an elevator
button.
Bedding down: Nothing taxes the senses in guest rooms, either, where the
muted palette favors natural hues. The furnishings are Italian, the
linens are French, and the vibe is Asian. No fewer than 22 switches
(most accessible from a remote or bedside panels) operate everything
from drapes to a 42-inch flat-screen TV. Bathrooms have a soaking tub
and separate shower.
Who'll like it: Frazzled road warriors who want to shut out the world
without even having to get up off the bed to draw the draperies. Unlike
many luxe hotels, the Shangri-La offers free Wi-Fi and has in-room
Italian coffee/espresso makers.

The first Shangri-La hotel in North America was well worth waiting for.
The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were nicely laid out and well
appointed. The restaurant, Market, is fantastic - the food, service,
ambiance were all delightful. It seems to be the new hot spot for the
local trendsetters. Room service was prompt and efficient. The fitness
center was one of the nicest that I have seen in all my travels, but the
pool was not open at this time of year (but it looked great).
Only concern was the room key - they are RF cards - and it takes
practice to use it in the elevators. Kudos to the hotel for embracing
new technology!

After a one week stay in Las Vegas we needed a room after the red eye
flight before heading to Vancouver Island. We opted to stay at the
Shangri La as I had visited a few of their properties in Asia and was
curious to see if they would live to the same standard.
At check-in I wasn't too impressed with the underground parking/lobby.
The front desk woman though at check-in was extremely professional,
polite and accommodating to my requests.
When they found out it was my anniversary the front desk agent to my
surprise sent up a fruit and chocolate platter at 4:00am. Very nice
touch!
The room was extremely comfortable. Bathroom and amenities were tops!
Lot's of great features in the room such as one-touch mood lighting,
large HD t.v, very comfortable mattress, and a huge walk-in closet. Also
complimentary shoe shine service.
I will definitely be staying at the Shangri La Vancouver again!
