We are a family of 5. We needed a hotel in Vancouver to stay one night before we
took a cruise to Alaska. It's difficult for us to find a hotel that has a
room/suite that will accommodate 5 people. We often have to settle for paying
for 2 rooms, which cuts into our budget or we pack a sleeping bag, which my kids
hate. This hotel was a perfect match for us. They gave us a great rate. The room
itself was lovely. It was clean and decorated nicely. The bathroom was large,
the beds very comfortable and it came with a pull-out sofa in a slightly
separated sitting area. The location of the hotel was good. Not in the fancier
part of town, but in a funky part. We could walk to many things, including the
Vancouver Art Gallery and the riverfront. We walked all over checking out
neighborhoods and had dinner on Davie Street, which was a happening area. On top
of this, the staff was very good. One of the desk clerks helped us out when we
needed a cab to the Vancouver Port. Apparently, it's a little known secret that
the same large vans from the airport that carried all five of us to the airport
aren't allowed to pick up large groups on that side of the city. When we asked
for a van, she called one for us. The driver came and took all 5 of us and our
bags to the car. I asked if we would all fit in the car and he said, Sure! Then
when I was about to get in the car - the last person - he told me I couldn't go
in; he'd get a ticket. I couldn't believe he waited so long, so we got out, took
our bags and went back to the hotel. The clerk apologized profusely and called
another company to send 2 cars. We were insistent that we felt the other driver
behaved inappropriately and wouldn't travel with him. He picked up the dispatch
call and came back. We told him we were waiting for another company, but he
wouldn't leave. The clerk asked him to leave repeatedly and then she got tough,
threatening to call the police if he didn't leave. Then we were able to get into
other cabs and get to our destination. We felt as if this hotel had been a good
experience, especially for the money.

Stayed at this hotel with a recommendation by a hotel I've stayed at in Toronto
(think it's the same management). This hotel is right in the entertainment area
of the city. A lot of people walking by. The hotel has a pub attached to it
which was a lot of fun. Rooms were generally small, as the building seemed to be
an older one, but the room was nicely done none the less. It's a trendy hotel
with great personable staff. We had a good stay.

This is a very nice hotel for the price! Convenient to everything, in an area
with lots of bars, food and attractions within walking distance. I don't know
where the naysayers were, don't let the thumbs down scare you. Staff was
extremely helpful, no complaints at all. Wireless didn't work in my room, but
fine in lobby. Would definately stay again. Cute art deco!

The Ramada Inn and Suites located on Granville Street is an elegant hotel
located on one of the most busiest lively streets in Downtown Vancouver. The
Ramada is located around many famous Vancouver attractions. Pacific Centre
Shopping Mall is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Pacific Centre contains many
top designer stores like Hugo Boss, Harry Rosen, Holt Renfrew, Hollister Co,
Aritzia and many more. Stanley Park is also a 15 minute walk from the hotel. You
can relax and sit in the sand while you watch the sun set on Stanley Park. If
you are a nightlife person, Robson Street is a ten minute walk. The rooms are
very spacious and cozy. The beds and pillows make the Ramada a relaxing stay.
Whether its 30 degrees Celsius or -10 degrees Celsius, the in-room heater/air
conditioner makes the room the perfect temperature. The staff are very friendly
and always help you out with a smile. Although there isnt a workout facility,
the Ramada Inn gives you passes to Fitness World which is a convenient 5 minute
walk from the Ramada, so you can workout. By far the best thing about this hotel
is their attitude towards the environment. They place these cardboard cards by
the bed sheets that say: "millions of hotels use billions of gallons of water to
wash their bed sheets everyday. We usually wash our sheet every 2-3 days.
However, if you want your sheets to be washed every day just leave this card on
your bed and we will gladly wash them for you." This commitment to saving the
environment is what makes the Ramada Inn a respectable hotel. I usually come to
Vancouver six times a year, and after my stay at the Ramada, I am going to stay
there every time.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and it was certainly a culture shock when
we first walked into the room.
There was a god awful smell coming from somewhere, eventually we discovered that
it was a cleaning product that had been used. Not a good first impression.
The room was small, we had 3 suitcases and it was like a game of jenga trying to
find space to fit them in.
One window in the room, didn't open and looked into the room across (which was
about 6 feet away). The only air was via the air conditioning system which did
its job.
The bathroom was clean and was the best part of the deal!
Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday were not much fun. The nightclub next door and
across the street were pumping out loud, base music until 2am approx.
It is a good 20 to 30 minute walk to Robson/Thurlow streets which offer some of
the best shops and restaurants. Stanley Park is about 40 minutes away on foot.

found this for 60$ a night, so the price was very nice for a downtown big city
hotel.
Pros
the price was very affordable
staff was very helpful and friendly
rooms were recently remodeled.
quiet location
close to dining options and shopping
centrally located
cons
a bit of a walk from transit (aside from busses)
rooms were small
no free breakfast
slow/small elevators
If you know what to expect going in - you'll be happy with this hotel. Dont go
and expect a 4 star hotel. It is a good value for a downtown location. the hotel
is located at the end of Granville st - one of the main commercial streets, and
at the foot of the bridge to Granville island - close enough to walk and catch
the water taxi across. like any big city commercial area - there are homeless
people, and some sketchy characters - but no more than is to be expected and the
panhandlers did not make me feel unsafe.

I stayed for only a night, and for the most part, seemed adequate. The location
was good at least but it was a little too close to some of the action . The
elevators are as slow as molasses. The staff was friendly enough.
It was an easy walk across the bridge to the Granville Market which I highly
recommend.
This is about as central as you can get in the beautiful city of Vancouver. I
loved the city overall. Make sure to take a walk along the seawall somewhere. I
walked from the Science Museum all the way back to the hotel on the seawall path
and that was so enjoyable on a nice spring day.
In summary the location of this place was great but don't plan to spend any time
in the room. I had a view of nothing ( a wall) and no light got into the room
even in the middle of the day.

This hotel's location is nothing short of where you want to be. On the
happenings of Granville and near anything you need or anywhere you want.
The staff was readily available to assist and help with all my questions. When I
arrived to my room it was seemingly small but the comfort of the bed made up for
that with ease.
For such attentive staff and nice rooms I was pleasantly surprised to find this
gem at such an attractive price on Allure Hotels. I would stay here again and
suggest to anyone traveling to Van.
