When we arrived there were no attendants present. We had to carry out suitcases up a small set of stairs. This was awkward. We had to wait more than 15 minutes to check in as there are only two front desk staff and there was a long line up of people checking out. However, the hotel is very nice. The location is great. Close to art museum, restaurants, shopping, waterfront and subway. The building beside is under construction and although there is a note in the room apologizing and stating that construction noise might start around 8 am, I noticed the noise by 6 am and we were on the 15th floor. We booked through www.allure-hotels.com  and received a great rate that included parking and internet (they normally charge extra for both). The room was furnished with modern furniture and the bathroom was quite spacious. The location is right downtown and close to everything.
I agree with some of the other reviews here when they say that the staff was less than friendly. They weren't outright rude, but they were not particularly friendly. We stayed at another hotel in town on the same trip where they were much warmer and seemed genuinely happy to receive our business.
If you can get a great price like we did, book it. You will be glad you did

Just a block and a half off Robson Street. The concierge was very helpful. Helped with directions and suggestions for places to eat. Ask about the breakfast place just a block down from the hotel, it is a small Asian place that serves great omelets.

The room was comfortable. Sitting area, super soft bed, flat screen tv. Nice size bathroom with separate shower and tub.

My only issue was the construction noise in the morning. There is a new building being build right next door so you hear the crane, crement truck beeping, pounding etc so don't expect to sleep in. Otherwise a great place to stay.

We visited Canada for my husband's 50th birthday and upon checking in I was first informed that they had given us a twin room. Oh Nooo, I thought, and upon realising my concerns the male receptionist informed me that he would see what he could do. He then came back to me and asked if a queen bed would be okay. I confirmed that it was and the service from him was outstanding. We walked into our room to find a lovely birthday cake and a chocolate banner with happy birthday wishes written on it for my husband! We found all the staff at the Hotel extremely helpful. We stayed on floor 12 and the cleaner came in every day and we had clean bedding every day of our stay. Unfortunately we never had chance to actually eat at the hotel but from what I saw that too was outstanding. A fantastic Hotel with exceptional staff. We love Canada and we love the people that are in it. Thanks to them all they made my husband's 50th birthday celebrations so much more memorable. We hope one day to afford to be able to return!!
If you have booked the Metropolitan Hotel you will not be disappointed. The pool is great and the Sauna has a TV in so you can chill (or steam!) and watch the TV. Plenty clean towels by the side of the pool. Happy holidaying!!

I've stayed here a couple nights last year w/ another person (after he looked at the reviews to make up his mind). So here's my view: the location really is the best and that made the hotel worth it, but everything else was pretty average. So the question is if do you really want to pay all that $$$ when you can get a hotel with a similar location but cheaper in price (especially if you get the perception that it's "average")? Bottom line: yes I would recommend it because I saw nothing wrong with it. But me personally? I can find something more modern (and at the same comfortable) for a cheaper price nearby.

This hotel was the perfect location for our Vancouver stay. We were able to walk to most attractions, and valet service was impeccable (if a little pricey) when we needed the car. Our room was extremely clean, and elegantly and tastefully decorated. We felt at home the minute we entered the room. The bedding was luxurious. The large spa-like bathroom was appointed with many extra touches like a magnifying mirror, a vanity seat, and yes, pampering Moulton Brown products. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
The only drawback (not so much for us) worth mentioning is that we would not recommend this hotel if you plan on enjoying the pool. It is strictly a lap pool to be used in conjunction with the fitness equipment. We quickly got over that because there were so many other positives.

Stayed for a long weekend prior to an Alaska cruise.
Nice hotel with European flavor. Not the typical "high-rent" chain.
Location was the best. Easy to walk to most things. Took the trolley to other things we wanted to do.
They upgraded to king room with lots of space and nicely appointed.
In-room coffee and they brought a teapot at our request.
We would definitely return!

We booked the metropolitan online, after reading some of the reviews on TA. What a fantastic choice!
1. Our room was very large, and featured a very comfortable king bed with soft sheets, a down comforter and lots of pillows. There was a balcony, but it was very small. The bathroom had a wonderful large shower and a soaker tub.
2. The valet, check-in and concierge made everything a breeze! We rolled up to the underground parkade, the valet took our car and then check-in took a couple of seconds. Very fast. Parking is 28$/per day, but so worth it because you never need your vehicle and there would be nowhere even remotely close to park your car overnight. The concierge was great if you needed to know anything about anything! He found us a movie theater close by and gave us show times, and on our last day helped us navigate to the ferries.
3. The location was awesome as well. Very close to great shopping, kitty corner to an underground mall, and one block from the art gallery. A short walk to Stanley park and the harbor too.
4. If you need a computer with internet, its pretty expensive. First 15mins are free but then they charge you 10$ for the next 15mins. However, i believe WiFi was free throughout the hotel.
5. The pool was neat, offered interesting views of the city. The fitness center had everything you would need.
6. We did not visit the restaurant as it was too expensive for us.
7. I wish it had a spa.
My only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

** make sure you book online or compare prices We got a Luxury suite online for almost 600$ less than the hotel had it listed on the door of our room. We booked through Allure-Hotels and everything was a breeze.

I recently stayed here for 3 nights with my wife on our honeymoon. It was the last stop and I'll admit that the other 2 hotels we stayed in were terrific, so it had a lot to prove to us. The location really is spectacular, and that made the hotel worth it for us, but everything else was pretty average.

The staff was friendly, but otherwise they were not particularly helpful. We used the concierge for some local info and it took 30 minutes for him to call us back and didn't have very good info at that. A second time we asked him for help with some local restaurants, and he seemed put out.

The room we stayed in was pretty small. Our rate was excellent, but I've never seen so many charges for extras. There was construction going on next door but it didn't bother us all that much. We used the in-room movies and the picture quality was pretty bad.

We walked pretty much everywhere from this hotel. The location really was wonderful. On the last day, we watched a TV show being filmed at the Art Museum a block away.
