My husband and I traveled to Vancouver to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We selected the Loden based on tripadvisor recommendations and the hotel's website. I considered the Opus, but thought the restful ambiance the Loden seemed to exhibit suited us better. We were not disappointed. As suggested by others, the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our room, the least expensive, though not huge, enveloped us the moment we walked in. Lots of light, comfortable bed, elegant bathroom, plenty of storage for clothes, flat screen tv, docking station for our ipod, and a window that opened, all combined to create a lovely hotel experience. The exercise facility is fine, although I would have preferred more weight machines. Overall a great experience.

We stayed at the Loden for 3 nights after getting a great deal on this  website through www.allure-hotels.com  . Right from the greeting at the front door, everything was perfect. The staff are extremely friendly and the room layout is fantastic. The location is also one of the best. Close the the beautiful waterfront and close to Robson St. Don't consider anywhere else.

Thanks to a good internet deal, we decided to splurge a bit and stay two nights at the Loden on a recent trip to Vancouver. What a great choice! We loved the hotel---chic decor, friendly staff, great location. Just two blocks from the sea wall, 15-20 minute walk to Stanley Park, to Yaletown, and just a few blocks off of Robson. I hope we get a chance to stay here again!

We arrived at the Loden in the early morning of August 21 and were immediately welcomed by the professional friendly front desk staff. Thankfully our room was immediately available as our family was exhausted as we had disembarked from an Alaskan cruise earlier that morning. Our family of four (children ages 15 and 6) stayed in a spacious room (#1205)with two queen beds. The room's design had very clean lines and arguably the most comfortable beds we've ever slept in! Although the bathroom did not have a bath tub, the shower stall was spacious, and my wife enjoyed the heated floor and always appreciates the quality toiletries (Molton Brown). I also appreciated that we had a window that could be opened and the peek-a-book view of Coal Harbor was nice.

Can't say enough about the wonderful front desk staff....just warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Took care of our special needs (when we informed the front desk that there wasn't a DVD player in our room for our 6-year old son to watch movies, one was installed with an hour) and we were always greeted with a smile as we passed by.

The restaurant, Voya is not to be missed.. Restaurants that look cool and hip and catering to a young clientele, usually offer food and service that falls short and in many cases fail miserably. That is not the case with Voya. The cooking is well prepared....not too fussy but creative without being over the top. The kitchen is clearly working with quality ingredients (excellent ceviche, bison, veal cheeks) and the kitchen crew is top notch as the taste is excellent and the presentation definitely adds to the dining experience. The service was not always perfect (e.g. water glasses went unfilled, finished plates lingered a bit too long on the tables) but that said the friendly and GENUINE nature of the wait staff more than made up for any service glitches.

We were debating between staying at the Loden and the Shangri-La but decided on the Loden because of our preference to stay at smaller boutique-style properties. I've stayed at many deluxe hotels (e.g. Shangri-La, Four Seasons, SLR) but when you stay at a smaller property that "gets it", it's hard to beat. And the Loden does get it....

This is a great Hotel! The rooms were very clean and everyone was very friendly. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and it was exquisite! Good location, only a short walk to Gas Town and Granville Street.
The bathroom was the most unique part. The toilet had its own door inside of the bathroom. The best part is, that is was reasonably priced.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Loden Hotel . We typically look for small boutique hotels as they offer more personalized service than the larger chain hotels. We were not disappointed. Modern and chic in design; centrally located; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff; and lots of amenities (including WiFi )made this the perfect choice for us. Upon hearing we were there for our anniversary, Mauricio, the pastry chef, sent up a delectable tray of homemade truffles and petit fours. The selections were unbelievably good! Renita and Evan greeted us and made us feel at home. Agi arranged for the complimentary use of great bicycles (w/ locks, map, helmets & water!) for a 4-hour tour of Stanley Park, Granville Island, and great neighborhoods. Charlie and Venzenia were helpful getting us dinner reservations, bus tour info and taxi back to the airport. The use of a fully equipped health club right on premises was a real plus! Upon hearing that we had raved about his candies, Mauricio sent more to our room! My favorite was caramel w/ a touch of sea salt encased in a dark chocolate truffle. My husband liked the ooey-gooey cherry center. Our meal at VOYA, Loden's adjacent restaurant, was the best meal in town, by far. We, of course, hit the famed Indian spot, Vij's, and wished we had spent that night back at Voya's!!! We had NO complaints...great location, great hotel, great price, outstanding staff! Don't hesitate to book your stay at the Loden in Vancouver!

I went to the Loden for the third time in the past 6 months. I took along some collegues this last time and they were equally impressed as I had been in the past. Some highlights:
- the staff and service is exceptional. Only glitch was them forgetting to bring my car around from valet parking after I called for it. They waived the daily fee and when I returned at the end of the day, I got a small box of chocolates and an note of apology - class.
- rooms are fantastic - first rate design and decor - you just don't get rooms like this unless you are staying at a 5 star hotel in Asia.
- food is superb - I just order room service as often coming and going at all hours and it is very good. Their breakfast is excellent.
- Location is very good, downtown and close to the water and to shopping at Robson. A bit difficult if your meetings are out of the downtown core but worth the additional effort.

My husband and I stayed at The Loden in mid-April for 4 nights and loved it. Located on a quiet street within walking distance of virtually everything (or a short cab ride), it's a great place to stay in Vancouver. Every day, we'd walk down to the harbor and all the way to Stanley Park. As soon as we stepped out of the cab at The Loden, the service, professionalism and friendliness were top-notch. Since it's not a large hotel, you feel like the staff actually knows you. We stayed in the beautiful Park Vista Room and had a view of the harbor and other skyscrapers. The rooms are exquisitely appointed and very comfortable. The bathroom was fabulous, especially the large shower. Everything is very modern and high-tech but in a soothing way. Each day we'd return to a spotless room with a special amenity awaiting us like a calming lotion or slippers. We never ate in the restaurant because it was a bit pricey but did have drinks and appetizers one night which was fun. We'll be back in Vancouver this fall and will stay at The Loden. It's one of the best hotel experiences we've had in a long, long time.

Background: I am not a regular contributor, but my recent experiences at the Loden moved me to do it now. As a regular traveller I have stayed in virtually every type of resort around the world. In addition, having worked in the service industry at one time I have an appreciation for the effort behind quality service. I am more grizzly bear than kitten as a client. Finally, I have stayed at every top rated hotel in Vancouver but one. This is the best overall experience and stay - period.

My experience at the Loden was truly excellent, and for several reasons. First, I have been in Vancouver three times this year, each time at the Loden, and each time was met with truly outstanding service. This is the most important point in my opinion; professional service with a friendly tone is a difficult balance. The staff was very professional without exception, and I can’t remember the last time I could say that about a hotel or restaurant. To be friendly, in an appropriate manner means reading your client and their current mood. The front desk get special mention, but everyone was very good. Second, the standard rooms are better than most ‘superior’ or ‘deluxe’ rooms elsewhere. While not huge in size (it urban Vancouver people), the rooms are spacious, very modern, stylish and very well appointed. Most hotels I have to look at the room key to remember which hotel I’m in they are so monotonous. Not true here. I would be surprised if you did not remember your stay, just based on the room alone. The bed and linen were truly ‘dreamy’. The soaking tub, large walk-in shower, WC, and bath products are all outstanding.

The location is subtle, while not on one of the main drags it is very well positioned between the core business district, Robson Street for shopping and dining, and the waterfront leading to Stanley Park.

Finally, on our last visit we decided to risk not to go to CinCin (still a personal favourite) and went to the Voya Restaurant located in the hotel. Well it was amazing. I could easily write another article just on the meal we had, but suffice it to say if you haven’t been, go! The balance of flavours and quality of ingredients for all of the dishes was superb. I’m a foodie, and this was exceptional.

Vaneta, Stacy, Simon and Michael – Special mention, you’ll meet them if you go. Thank you!

Wedding night stay. Very accommodating staff. Small enough to make one feel important. Spent first few minutes admiring the modern styles of the room. Stayed in one of the regular rooms and was more than we expected.

Trying hard to be trendy, the hotel generally succeeds. Well located in centre of town, Staff could not have been more helpful with check in, restaurant suggestions, anything at all. Great rooms with all sort of tech gadgets meaning you could hook up nearly anything to the big screen, cool bathroom with great lights and, windows which open. A superb place to stay

We just spent a night at the Loden this past weekend. From the minute you pull up to the curb until they send you off, the service is exceptional. Everyone in the hotel, including the restaurant, is friendly and always anticipating your needs. This is a small boutique-style hotel located on a beautiful tree-lined street in Vancouver's West End. It is within walking distance of everything you could want -- the harbour, restaurants, shopping, Gastown, you name it, but just enough away from the hustle and bustle to give you a quiet, intimate feel. The room was on the small side, but beautiful. The bathroom is amazing! Black marble floors, very modern furnishings. The turn-down service includes replenishing your towels, adding a eucalyptus "bath therapy" to the amenities, fresh cold water by the bed and the ice bucket filled. They even turned on the lamps beside the bed and set the radio to some soothing music. The bedside lamps and all the lighting in the bathroom have dimmer switches. The main thing about this hotel is the personal, friendly service you will receive. When our car was brought around by the valet, it was stocked with two cold bottles of water for our trip home. All in all, a great experience!

I must preface this review by noting the special circumstance that we stayed here for our wedding night. So, to begin, in the context of that circumstance, this hotel was disappointing. First, despite having noted this fact in our booking and having posed some questions about early check-in etc, we were not contacted at any point during the month or so between booking and staying. Second, we were a little underwhelmed by the service. Finally, to the hotel itself, the public areas are small but pleasant, though the whole hotel feels very business-hotel in personality. The room was very nice - a good size, stylish, comfortable, and well laid-out. The location is also quite good - in walking distance to many things, though perhaps not the most lively neighborhood in itself. I would say it is a reasonable choice for a business trip or possibly for a romantic weekend, but context of both the raving reviews below and a myriad of other hotels in the world, we really didn't find this to be anything incredible.

You won't have anything to complain about. All staff members (especially Stacey, Troy, Bryan) are exceptionally well-trained. We felt pampered, special and wouldn't choose any other hotel to stay at.

A new boutique hotel in Vancouver's Coal Harbour area and a great find for local and distant travellers who are a bit fed-up with Costco-sized mega manses. The best sell is the staff -- hospitable and capable all, and very desirous to please. Rooms are lovely with the exception of the TV and terminals -- they could have been handled a lot better. Beds are better than your best at home. Overnight parking is a killer ($32/night) but I guess this reflects the great valet service that allows 24 hour access. We rented bikes to cruise the city and the hotel reimbursed our cost! Not bad! No coffee in the room -- this was good in that most room coffee is undrinkable. Starbucks is downstairs and Cafe Artigiano is around the block. We had dinner for 6 in their elegant dining room with a very good and quite pricey wine list (Nota Bene was $98 but delicious). All were happy with their meals and the servers were excellent. A good stay all in all.

Beautifully decorated - modern but very luxurious feeling, perfect for our 3-day stay in Vancouver over valentines weekend. Our room was on the corner on an upper floor where we had great urban views of the surrounding residential towers - very fun to just sit in bed and watch what's going on. The bathroom was especially gorgeous - large scale chocolaty brown marble tile, double translucent glass doors concealing the toilet and shower, elegant walnut and brass casework, and a very refined soaking tub with 1x2 white marble mosaics. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and service was prompt, although there was often a line at the front desk. The location is fairly quiet, but within walking distance to hipper nightlife and shopping areas.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Loden hotel. What a great boutique hotel in Vancouver right near the water. The staff was great and very attentive to our needs. The rooms we're wide open, well designed and decorated and the bathroom had a great soaker tub for two. The only issue we ran into was late car service to get us to to our restaurant reservations - they hustled fast and got us there a bit late. When we got back the desk manager greeted us with an apology and bought us a drink in the Voya bar. Its this type of attention that will bring us back!

My husband, 9 month old daughter and I just returned from a wonderful 2 night stay at The Loden. The minute you arrive, you are treated like royalty by the staff. The hotel itself is in a wonderful location, and it very elegant. The rooms were large, and the bathrooms were top notch.
Each day, the hotel staff greeted us all by name, even our daughter. It made for a very personal experience. The restaurant on site, Voya, was amazing! They even had highchairs!
We look forward to staying at this hotel again very soon!

This is by far one of the most beautiful, clean, and comfortable hotels I have ever stayed in. And I feel that I travel for pleasure, quite a lot. The hotel is only 6 months old. It is small, about 77 rooms I believe. It is decorated beautifully, very modern. My room had floor to ceiling windows, that looked over the city and part of the bay. The decorating in the room was modern, soothing, and very stylish. The gorgeous marble bath room with a deep, soaking tub and separate shower stall with Molton Brown toiletries was literally 'to die for' ! Plush towels, terry robes, clothes steamer, flat screen TV - I almost didn't want to leave the room !

The staff at the desk greeted us by name, always asked us if we needed directions, went out of their way to recommend restaurants, places to visit, etc. They offered us a ride in a converted British taxi, with the hotel name on it in case we didn't have transportation available.

I really can't say enough about this hotel - I would recommend it completely without reservation - It has to be one of the most beautiful, friendly, accommodating hotels I have ever stayed. I would rate it 5 stars in every category !!!

We stayed at the Loden for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The bellman (Ethan) who brought our bags up to the room took the time to explain the electronics of our room to us (totally wired rooms - great for technology lovers!) and the hotel amenities. He was very helpful. The rooms are furnished very nicely, the beds are great and I love the sliding door of the bathroom (it opens the sink & tub portion out to the room). The ambience of the hotel was very nice. The restaurant had fantastic food as well.
