We stayed at this hotel for three nights our room was classed as a basic
room but was huge, beautifully decorated with a large comfy bed. The
pool and hot tub were lovely after a busy day sightseeing. the Kingston
bar over the way was a nice friendly place for a nightcap. hotel staff
very friendly, we booked in England before we went and got a really
cheap deal. only 2 blocks the sky train which took to the airport for
£2.50 each what a bargain we will be using this hotel when we visit
again next year.

after reading a host of reviews here, my wife and i booked a 3 night
stay and came away very pleased. everything was exactly as described in
these reviews, nice/clean upscale boutique hotel in good location with
helpful staff. would happily stay there again and recommend to others.
was our first time to Vancouver so don't have much to compare it to in
that price range C$150ish/night for king bed but seemed more than
reasonable relative to other options.

I had a short break of 4 days in Vancouver. This is a great place to
stay. Very convenient for all the shops and restaurants of downtown, You
can walk to most of the interesting areas of town. There is a bicycle
hire place around the corner so I could take a bike ride around town and
Stanley Park (recommended - it is a great bike ride all round the sea
wall taking about 3 hours - great views !) . There is a very good
supermarket and deli, and wine/liquor store literally just round the
corner. This is great because the rooms have excellent modern equipped
kitchens so you can cook if you don't want to go out.. Nice balcony. The
bedroom and living area are modern and spacious. It's just like having a
modern apartment all to yourself downtown but with the advantages of top
class hotel service when you need it. The staff are knowledgeable,
friendly and helpful. The whole place has a chic modern feel to it. The
outdoor pool and deck is a bonus - as it the free wireless internet
which many other hotels charge for. Very pleased with absolutely
everything and good value considering the many benefits.

We stayed here during a road trip to Canada and the northwest US. The
location is wonderful - within walking distance to everything. There is
a great (small) pool, nice European breakfast and gym. The building is a
mix of hotel and condos and the hotel rooms are pleasantly big. Service
is mixed. Seanna was a delight in answering all of our questions, but
some of the other staff weren't as helpful.

I was in love with the gourmet kitchen
Given that we paid less than $200 for a suite with a gourmet kitchen,
I'd have to say that L'Hermitage was well worth the money. Not having to
eat out every night really saved us some money and there was a grocery
store less than a block from the hotel.
The rooms were beautifully decorated, and while perfectly comfortable,
the color palate felt a bit cold and uninviting at times. But that's
really just nitpicking.
The pool was an absolute oasis and was nice to relax there after a day
of sightseeing.
Another thing that made the room a value was the free high speed
internet. Many hotels charge exorbitant fees for this luxury and
L'Hermitage gives it free for their guests.

We stayed in a premium king suite. The L'Hermitage Hotel room was
spacious and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the full
kitchen was terrific. The room also had a washer and dryer. The hotel
has a nice lap pool and hot tub on the roof top of the 5th floor as well
as a beautiful lounge area.
There is a great food store a half a block away which is great for
stocking the kitchen. The L'Hermitage Hotel Vancouver is half a block
away from Robson St.
We chose to return our rental car as soon as we hit Vancouver because of
the reviews we had read about break ins in the parking garage.

We stayed in this great hotel for 2 nights on our trip through Canada.
We had booked trough internet with good rate for luxury 1 bedroom suite,
and were given an update to even more luxurious suite, with 2 bathrooms,
balcony, study and lovely kitchen.
The L'Hermitage Hotel Vancouver is right off Robson street, and within
walking distance of all the Vancouver centre highlights.
Great service (they even clean up your kitchen and put your stuff in the
dishwasher).
There is great valet parking service (same price as self-parking) and
your car is in a separate section behind gates, so nothing to worry
about!
There is a lovely swimming pool with hot-tub on a roof terrace and a
marketplace just around the corner with fresh bread etc.
If we ever return to the lovely city of Vancouver we would certainly
stay here again.

We just returned from a three night stay at the L'Hermitage Hotel
Vancouver and loved every minute of it. We've stayed at many different
hotels on weekend getaways from Seattle and we've finally found one that
we would love to stay at again! The location is perfect - you can walk
to Robson or Yaletown easily. More impressive though was the hotel
itself. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our
first room (the air conditioning unit vibrated loudly) and the staff
helped us find a new one quickly. The outdoor spaces were wonderful (ask
for a room on the pool side) and because it is a small hotel, easily
accessible. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat breakfast at the
hotel and will say that during our stay valet parking was unnecessary as
we found parking on the street plentiful.

From the time you are ushered into this lovely, luxurious hotel in
Vancouver, 'til you leave, the friendly, courteous staff treat you as
one of the family. The joy of being in a smaller hotel is the
personalized service at every level. There are no "hordes" of people
rushing to get an elevator or pushing you out of the way to get a
luggage cart, etc. The lovely, decorated ,marble lobby, along with the
helpful, friendly staff treats every guest as someone special. We
explained that we were leaving in a couple of days on an Alaskan cruise.
We were offered ideas ,brochures and suggestions for sight-seeing trips.
In fact, we signed up and cancelled a trip twice and the young lady at
the front desk who helped us, never lost her smile. We didn't have
breakfast in the hotel as we felt it was too expensive. However, there
was a restaurant and lovely patio bar across the street and a "boutique"
IGA on the street level with a deli, coffee, tea and breakfast
"sandwiches". There were tables and chairs on Robson street to sit and
people-watch. The L'Hermitage Hotel Vancouver has a lovely rooftop
heated pool and spa outside a well-decorated lounge on the fifth floor.
The rooftop also had a number of potted trees, statues, tables and
chairs. Our room had patio doors opening out to a private,
tree-surrounded patio. A great place to sip a glass of wine and re-live
the day's adventures.

This is the best value in a hotel room I've ever had anywhere. Not only
was the room the best room I've ever had, even compared to other fine
hotels I've stayed in, it is by far the best value. I broke my review
into key points, so you can focus on whatever interests you.
Getting there and the neighborhood: It is in a nice neighborhood with
restaurants and just off of the intersection, easy to get to. The
building seems to have condos and hotel rooms. The sign is kind of
hidden, so keep your eyes open and look carefully for it. There is an
IGA grocery right on the corner about a block down. It is an easy 10
minute walk to a Japadog stand and downtown. There are bus lines close
by and just lots of people walking around in this area.
L'Hermitage Hotel Vancouver
Room: We had a suite with a king sized bed, bathroom with garden tub and
shower and separate toilet, wet bar, separate living area, outdoor patio
with a nice view of the street and two tvs. Although there was a
kitchen-sized sink and a mini fridge in the wet bar, there really wasn't
a kitchen set up at all, but we didn't request one. I'm not sure if
other rooms have a kitchen. They had premium cable with two HBO channels
and lots of movie channels. They also had a 99 cent pay per movie
option. The room was spotlessly clean with plenty of towels, extra
pillows and blankets and newish furniture. There were three closets in
the room, the most I have ever seen in a hotel room. The view onto the
street was great and made for nice people watching. There is also a
dining room table with four chairs where we could eat or work on the
computer and watch tv or look out the wall to wall windows onto the
street below. The only thing I wish they had more of were electrical
outlets, but my hotel in Whistler had the same scarcity of outlets, too.
Pool, Hot Tub, Steam Room, Gym and Lounge: I just looked at these but
ran out of time to go swimming. The pool and hot tub are outdoor, but
they are heated. They looked very clean and there were plenty of towels
stacked nearby. They said they have a steam room and locker room, but I
didn't have time to check it out. The gym equipment seemed pretty new
and up to date. They had everything, including elliptical, treadmill,
weights, etc. The lounge is large and on the fifth floor behind a locked
door, as was the pool and hot tub, so the security seems pretty solid
there. It has wifi, a fireplace, ice water, apples and comfy chairs and
tables where you can work. That is also were they do breakfast.
Other Stuff: The wifi in the room was free, but a little slow sometimes.
Free premium cable. Not sure if parking costs extra, but I imagine it
does, because it seems like I saw signs for parking prices everywhere in
the neighborhood. You might want to check on that if that's important to
you. The breakfast came with the room, but I didn't try it.
Service: The front desk has someone there 24/7 and although they don't
make you use your card to get into the elevator, the security seems ok.
The staff was wonderful. They helped us find Japadog and suggested so
many fun things to do around town. They also helped us look up ticket
prices for activities around town. When we decided to extend our stay a
little longer, they let us book a half day extension over the phone
while we were out on the town, which was very nice. I would have
definitely stayed longer if given the chance and will definitely return
here the next time I'm in Vancouver. This one is a real gem.

My friend and I have traveled all over the world to many cities in many
countries, and both of us agree that none pale in comparison to
L'Hermitage! We have nothing but praises about our stay. A 5 out of 5
rating no doubt! Why this hotel is rated #20 popularity (as of June
18/09) is beyond me...it should be in the top 3 for sure. Don't let the
#20 fool you...I guess some people prefer to pay less for an average
stay, or just prefer to stay at large hotel chains.
Location: Right smack downtown in the middle of all that there is to do:
shopping, eating, sight seeing...you can do many things within walking
distance!
Cleanliness: Cleaning staff did an amazing job keeping our room neat and
tidy every day. Even the gym, pool, sauna and library was clean and
tidy.
Rooms: Very clean, modern, chic. Comfortable bed and couch. Lots of room
for storing clothes, shoes, etc.
Service: OUTSTANDING! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Not one single
bad experience with any employee. They really helped make our stay an
enjoyable one.
Value: For what we paid and what we got, we have no complaints! To me,
having a hotel stay that is free of worry, issues or problems, it is
worth the money! Why save a few bucks and take a chance on a dirty room,
unfriendly staff or lack of amenities? I guarantee you will not have any
regrets booking and you will be confident that your stay will be an
amazing one! We will defintely stay here again on our next visit, no
question about it!
