This hotel was decent. We stayed here for one night prior to our Alaskan cruise. We had two rooms split between the 5 of us.

We were given an ocean view room on the 6th or 8th floor, I can't remember, but there are more than 30 floors in this hotel, so it was one of the lower ones. The "ocean view" room we received meant that we could see a sliver of the ocean if you looked far down a busy street. I would never have considered this an ocean view. Maybe if you were higher up you might have seen more ocean, but not where we were.

I really enjoyed the modernity of this hotel because that's my style. The rooms were very modern with a nice desk, 2 double beds that seemed VERY small, not like other double beds I've slept in. The one complaint I could see people having here was that the lighting in the bathroom was very modern, but not super bright. I would have liked more light when showering, but it wasn't horrible. If I was going to a special event and needed to really perfect my makeup, I might have struggled as well, but I wasn't doing much makeup since I was on vacation and tend to just do the basic foundation, eye shadow, and mascara when I'm on vacation, so it wasn't a big deal.

This hotel was in a decent location. We walked down to the pier and walked around for a while. You could see a lot of the work being done for the Olympics all around the city. You could walk to the pier if you're taking a cruise and IF you know that your ship is going out of the nearby pier. We sailed with Celebrity, and our dock most certainly was not within walking distance.

Would I stay here again? Maybe. We weren't too concerned about our hotel and someone else picked this one in our party as our night before our cruise. I'd have to do more research if I were to return. I will say, I didn't hate this hotel, but I didn't love it either. If I were to stay here again, I'd request a higher floor because the noise was really bad and is the main reason this hotel only has 3 stars.

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Vancouver for one night prior to an Alaskan cruise. The hotel was nice. The only downside was not really the hotels fault.. We took a bus from the airport to the hotel that took over an hour and then dropped us off on the little side street on the back side of the hotel. There was actually a door there with a phone to call the main bellman station to assist persons at that door with their luggage. That helped a lot since my sister and I had about 7 bags between us! The bellman came right away and put our luggage on a conveyor that took it too the main lobby area of the hotel! The room was typical with no real view, but we didnt expect one since we got the room for a steal on Hotwire. We were in a corner room on the fifth floor(519 I think) facing the air conditioning units and the backside of an office building. The front desk check-in was a little different, it was all electronic. We would not have had any human interaction at all at check in if my credit card had swiped correctly. There was staff there, but they let guests check themselves in and out at three sort of "kiosks". That was different, but I guess a little speedier if it gets busy.

Anyway, not a bad nite and the bed was VERY comfy with fabulous European linens and sheets.

I would return there and would recommend to others for a stay.

Stayed here 3 nights after getting a great deal with Priceline. Hotel was in a great area with other luxury hotels nearby. Minutes front waterfront, 2 blocks from Robson Street (shopping area) and the subway was right downstairs. Room was spacious modern and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would request a room in an upper floor just because it is on a busy downtown street. All in all great stay!

Stayed here 1 quick night on way to Victoria after having spent an earlier part of our trip at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. Lobby was plain to drab. Staff were upbeat and pleasant. Rooms were newish, standard Hyatt rooms with very comfortable beds. Location is in very congested area (Fairmont is within site) that felt a little gritty to me(eg you have to use your room key for the elevator to take you up presumably as a security measure). Much preferred the location of the Westin but probably depends on what you have planned and if you are a "big city" person

Check-In:
For a Hyatt, I was a bit disappointed with check-in. We booked an ocean view room on the Club Floor (floor 29). When we got to our room, we were on the other side of the hotel, not facing the ocean. We went back to the reception and complained. After 4 rooms being available and not available on the club floor, we finally got an ocean view room, 2908.
Rooms:
The rooms were newly renovated and very clean. We had a king bed in our room, along with a cot bed that we got sent to our room. The beds were very comfy, and we had an HD TV (I think). The bathroom was very modern. We had everything you would expect from a Hyatt bathroom. However, I was disappointed with the shower. The water came out of a square piece of metal on the ceiling with holes in it. I also found that it took a while to get warm water. Another thing that bugged me was the low pressure of the water. Other than that, I thought the room was very clean and spacious.

Club Lounge (Only Have Access if on Club Floor (Floor 29):
The Club Lounge was pretty nice. It had free breakfast and snacks throughout the day. It also had an HD TV with a computer that had free internet access. The lounge was painted a tacky yellow color which wasn't the nicest, but it didn't bother me that much.
Service:
Other than check-in, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The people who worked on the Club Floor/Lounge new all of the guest's names and we extremely helpful. The maids did an outstanding job to keep our room clean.

Overall:
I would highly recommend this hotel for any traveller, any age. I would've given it 5 stars, but I thought it was necessary to give it 4 because of the poor check-in.

Okay some people are reviewing this unfairly in my opinion.. how can the hotel be blames for seagulls when you are obviously aware it is close to the sea.

Anyway be objective when you read these reviews, some people take things way too seriously and complain about things that have nothing to do with the hotel.

I'll review as much as I can, quickly:

BATHROOMS:
Medium to Large, huge console ( see my pictures ) Loved the mirror and lights in the the mirror, how cool. Loved the shower it was addictive, I took showers even when I didn't need it because it was so good. Lots of space on the counter and floor area and it was spotless ( love this! )

ROOM/BED:
Unbelievably comfortable, I was lost in the sheets and pillows and with free movies ( more on that later ) it was hard to leave the hotel bed to see the city.. one afternoon I came home early at 5pm and took a nice nap. The rest of the room was big again and not cluttered. I had a desk, another bed, a side chair, long console in there and a little area where the fridge and another console were located. the room was great.

STAFF:
Wonderful, friendly and very busy. I checked in quickly but when a whole bus load of people arrive of COURSE you have a lineup, what do you expect on a Saturday morning. Anyway the lobby at times was full of people checking in but when I checked in I breezed right through because I checked in during off-peak hours not on a Saturday morning (duh)

Valet/Concierge guys were lovely and accommodating and super helpful
Kitchen/Restaurant staff were wonderful.

RESTAURANT
Whatever you do, GET THE BREAKFAST. Loved it they have everything you could imagine for breakfast. Soup, bagels, eggs (cooked just for you), sandwiches, fruit, oatmeal, cereal a variety of everything. I never get up for hotel breakfasts because they're always continental but the Hyatt went over and above for this lovely spread and I was able to enjoy it every single day.. it's worth getting up early to go. The breakfast closes at 10:30am.

The lounge is lovely and quiet because people don't probably know about it. I sat in there two days for hours surfing the net in peace and quiet. If you don't' want to hang out in your room. Go here. The food is also NOT expensive.. $15 for a burger is cheaper than most other places, picture included

ROOM SERVICE
lovely, didn't disappoint. They have a full kitchen open till 11. They do the breakfast, lounge and room service all perfectly. I'd say 4 start dining, very clean and quick. They have everything you could ever want. TIP: Vanilla Ice cream is Orgasmic with fresh strawberries..

LOCATION
Close enough to everything. All the important buses STOP at the Hyatt as opposed to other hotels. They have a back entrance just for hopping on and off various buses so it's not disruptive to the hotel lobby. The buses are: Air Porter, Capilano Suspension Bridge, All the Tours Doesn't seem like much but some hotels don't offer this and their guests come to the Hyatt. How lovely it is to get off the bus and be "home" unlike other hotel-guests who have to then walk a few blocks to their hotel...

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I got a great deal, ask for packages if you want the best. I would definitely go back to this hotel as it is cheaper than Fairmont but comparable as far as Value, Location, service and Amenities.
