Review of the Howard Johnson Plaza on Kingsway
June 22, 2009
We stayed here as the starting point for a North American holiday. We actually
returned to Vancouver along the way and stayed here a second time.
Rooms were clean, staff were generally very helpful.
The restaurant was VERY ordinary - but there are many eateries within easy
walking distance. For breakfast, you can't go past the Salt and Pepper Grill
which is only a couple of hundred meters down the road - we ate there regularly
(evenings as well).
The bus into the city stops at the front door and only takes about about 15
minutes. It's only a 20 minute walk to the SkyTrain station if you prefer (or
you can catch the same bus to there) - and the main coach terminal is at the
same intersection.
Not a five star hotel by any stretch - but good value if you just want somewhere
clean and convenient to stay.

The Hotel is not far from downtown and staff is very helpful. I strongly
recommend this hotel for a family on a budget. We had a car so not being right
downtown was not an issue for us and it made for easy in and out access. The
rooms are nothing special but they were clean and suitable for our stay as we
were out most of the time visiting.

Hotel was ideal for visiting local places and was convenient if you plan to take
public transportation. Housekeeping staff and clerical staff were really
wonderful and responsive to customer's needs.
