I spent two nights on my own and wish it had been longer. I chose the Granville
Island Hotel on the basis of a review from a woman who spent several Christmases
there on her own with a dog. I was touched by her story.
The hotel more than lived up to the story. Staff were friendly, the room
luxurious and clean, with a view of the water. The food in the restaurant was
creative and tasty, especially when eaten outside on their patio by the Marina.
The microbrewery at the heart of the hotel gives it a unique quality that many
other high end hotels lack. The beer they make is delicious, even to a woman's
palate. I met the brewer in the hotel lift and was entertained by his tales of
the brewing process.
The Granville Island community is quaint and a lovely mix of operating
businesses around the marina and tourist shops. The coffee and Red Cappuccino (rooibos
tea) in the organic coffee shop are excellent. The public market with its
overflowing stalls with a vast range local food is a treat in itself. Try the
apple pie at the Pie shop.
I took a long walk by the shore back to the hotel from the Maritime Museum and
enjoyed the Vancouver skyline. Everything is accessible from Granville Island,
which nestles under two flyovers.creating a little island of pleasure.
Its a delightful world in an elegant city and I plan to go back. Its worth every
penny.

This is a very nice hotel in a wonderful central location in Vancouver. They are
pet-friendly and welcomed our rather large dog (for a fee of $25 per night),
even though it seemed that the other dogs that were staying there were small.
The restaurant on the ground floor has good food and a great view, but is
pricey. We liked the modern rooms with the tile floor, which was nice because
the weather was hot the weekend we came. Our room even had a large balcony. One
problem we had is our room heated up terribly, and the window air conditioner
didn't make much of a dent in cooling it. The personnel provided a fan to
supplement the air conditioner, which helped. We would likely come back to this
place, but next time we would make sure to get a room on the side that doesn't
get the afternoon sun.

Stayed on night. Room very typical, clean, nice linens, air conditioning unit
under window and noisey (again Typical). Somewhat pricey for type of room (your
paying for the location). Parking is extra fee. One night is enough for the area

We stayed in this newly renovated hotel and attended a play while in Vancouver.
The staff were extremely friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the water view from
the room. The hotel was perfectly situated and we enjoyed this quiet and
romantic stay in this glorious city. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location, very helpful but not over fussy staff and excellent restaurant
with wonderful views. Ask for a room with a water view. Its not cheap but it is
very good. We went to the public market most days for breakfast,

The Granville Island Hotel seems to emanate a calm, friendly vibe. I've never
stayed here, so I can't comment much about the rooms, but I've always enjoyed
coming here for events.
It's very small, for one thing, which makes it easy to find where you're
supposed to be upon arriving. The conference rooms are all on the ground floor,
and they have lots of windows to let in the light and let you gaze a little on
the scene outside. (Gauzy curtains provide shade, and are so much nicer than
Venetian blinds - who invented those atrocities?) I never get that "trapped in a
conference room in Hotel Nowhere" feeling.
And I guess this will depend on your organizer/host, but they serve a strong
cuppa coffee here, and pitchers of water come sensibly garnished with lemons.
There's a decent restaurant/pub out back - a little touristy feeling with the
nautical theme, but a fine place to sit back with a pint of microbrew.

The Granville Island Hotel is basically your only option if you plan to stay in
Granville Island. It's a bit pricey and their gym facility is pretty small. They
don't have a pool, but they do have a whirlpool and sauna to melt your tensions
away.
The rooms are pretty standard with a lovely view of the ocean from one side.
They also have a brewery on site that makes delicious beer and a large
restaurant, patio and bar space for conventions and guests. Their conference
rooms are also very roomy with lots of light and great catering. The service
I've received from staff has always been very pleasant.
I should warn the hotel isn't quite as beautiful as the website suggests, but
it's still a great place to stay.

We splurged when we stayed here and it was worth every penny.
What can we say, with the great location, ambiance and first class staff , who
met our every need. The Dockside Restaurant, with the large aquarium and with
the in-house Dockside Brewing Company (the beer is good), offered a really
enjoyable tasty meal.
Our room was most comfortable and with its amenities, left nothing to be desired
This is simply a first class hotel. Recommended
