Hotel Review of the Cascadia Hotel And Suites Vancouver
Sep 4, 2009
My husband and I travelled with our son, 8 and daughter 6 years old for a five day stay in Vancouver. We were visiting to sight see but also to visit with family in the area so found this to be the perfect home away from home.

We stayed in a room on the sixth floor with a balcony (Room 609). The room was comfortable and clean. We had two queen beds, a sofa, and a small kitchenette (small refrigerator, microwave, sink, two burner stove-top and all cooking and eating utensils). They provide a coffee maker and kettle with complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and sweetener. All the utensils we needed to prepare meals for our family was available. The grocery stores were conveniently located a few blocks away. We took transit to Granville Island Market one day to buy fresh meat, fruit and vegetables.

The free wireless internet was great for communicating with family who live in the area, playing computer games for the kids and searching for places in the area. We took our laptop with us for these purposes and didn't regret it. The location was convenient and many of the tour buses stopped right in front of the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. Security was excellent as you needed your room key to use the elevator.

The breakfast buffet was incredible with a wide variety of foods to choose from, even for my picky kids. We chose to eat outside on the patio most mornings, which was great for the kids, who could be a bit noisy. The place was busy but we never waited for a table and never felt rushed or left hungry. I was shocked at the size of the eating area and the variety of foods and drinks available! The staff, especially Serena, at the buffet, were busy but happy, friendly and efficient!

We used the pool three times and enjoyed it. It is a basic pool with a Jacuzzi and workout room next to it. Towels can be picked up at the front desk for use in the pool.

There was no safe in the room but safe deposit boxes are available at the front desk. I would have appreciated a table on the balcony to eat at or put our drinks on, there were only 2 chairs.

I would stay there again, no questions asked!

We stayed at the Cascadia suites for 3 nights (17-19 Aug 2009) as part of our West Coast US/Canada trip.
The reception staff are great- very welcoming and helpful with any queries I had.
The room we were allocated was more like a studio apartment with a small kitchen and separate living room area. This made a welcome change from your usual hotel room, and the extra space was appreciated! The room was also very well maintained by the hotel staff.
The inclusive breakfast was by far the best breakfast we had!! They have a number of options and regardless of the fact the hotel was fully booked during our stay there, items were replenished quickly.
The hotel is also in a great location, close to all the main attractions.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

We (dad, mom, 7yrs old, 9 yrs old) stayed at Cascadia 4 days 3 nights in Aug 2009. We were quite happy with the overall experience.

Location: we parked our car and walked to most locations - Granville island vs aqua bus, Davie St, Robson St, Gastown district and Chinatown (a bit far). We were happy that the hotel was centrally located. We also drive to the Kits pool and beach, Stanley Park and North Vancouver with no problem at all.

Public Area: Lobby was clean. Service was quick. The hotel personnel were very helpful. They were knowledgeable and able to give us traveling advises - travel direction, restaurant info and recommendation. The self-serve breakfast was very good. They provide pancakes, sausage, egg, bread, bagel, pastries, cereal, fruit, coffee, juice, etc. The Indoor pool was small-ish but my kids liked it a lot. We did not use the exercise room but it looks decent. We used guest laundry facility - $6.00 for one load of detergent, washing and drying.

ROOM: it was great. It has a living room area with sofa, desk and a small kitchen. Bed was comfortable. Bedding and towel were clean.

wonderful location, very clean, very courteous and helpful staff, great parking facility if you are renting a car (extra charge for this), good gym facility, good pool (did not use but many others did), excellent breakfast every morning even though it was busy-but well organized and had to wait only one day
very nice concierge staff that were also helpful
overall an excellent value and excellent stay and it was the staff that really made this place

My husband, mother, and I stayed for 3 nights in 2 rooms at the Cascadia during July 2009. The rooms were quite spacious and comfortable. A kitchenette was included. The beds were also very comfortable.
The hotel staff were excellent. We did not all arrive at the same time, and they arranged for my mother, a senior citizen, to check in early. They also were very helpful in telling us the best way to get to various attractions as well as the ferry terminal.
The hotel location is great if you plan primarily to visit attractions in downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. It is only a few blocks to the water taxi to the Granville Island Public Market. It also is convenient for walking to attractions downtown, and bus stops are very close as well. Many low-cost dining options are within a few blocks, in addition to convenience stores and a supermarket.
The room rates, which were quite low for the quality, included breakfast. Breakfast was not just the usual pastries and coffee. It consisted of pastries, cereal, toast, yogurt and granola, juices, coffee and tea, and various hot dishes such as sausage and eggs.
For convenience, my mother and I tried the hotel restaurant one evening. We had salads, which were fresh and good. Service could have been better, but we felt the server was responsible for way too many tables.
Our only real complaint was that there was considerable street noise (loud people) late at night. The hotel itself was quiet and certainly couldn't control the street.

Staff at reception were friendly and efficient. The concierge was particularly helpful when we asked him for advice. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated and had cooking facilities. A lovely buffet breakfast was included in the room rate. Good location, the bus stop was just a short stroll away or you could walk to downtown.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights at the start of our holiday. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel welcome. The two "girls" on the front desk, Emma and Anni, were cheerful whenever we needed their help.
The position of the hotel is ideal, we managed to walk the length and breadth of Vancouver with ease and I am 62 with a dicky ticker!!! Just around the corner are many bars and restaurants representing virtually every nationality therefore catering for every taste.
The breakfasts are truly excellent and set you up for the day.
The one or two who have found reason to complain about this hotel I suspect are professional complainers as we found nothing to complain about.
