Vancouver Sun Run April 19, 2009 |
The Vancouver Sun Run, sponsored by The Vancouver
Sun newspaper, is a 10km run held in Vancouver, Canada each year in
April.
It is the 10th largest 10 km run in the world. It takes place every year
in April at 9 a.m. and attracts over 50,000 participants, making it the
largest 10 km run in North America.
Live bands encourage runners, and there are water stations and rest
stops throughout the route. The race winds by sandy beaches, the
towering trees of Stanley Park and the glassy skyscrapers of downtown.
The 2.5 K Shaw Mini Sun Run is designed for children 12 and under or
participants who simply prefer a shorter course.
All participants need to provide an estimated finish time on their entry
forms. Entrants of similar ability are grouped in time zones and start
the race in a series of short timed intervals. If no estimated finish
time is provided, you are assigned a 1:30+ minute bib for the Striders
Division.
To run or walk in the same time zone as your friends, family or team
members, you must select the same estimated finish time on all the entry
forms.
